What is eyebrow lift?

As the face ages the eye brows usually fall down by the effect of gravity leading to a short distance between the brows and the eyes forming droopy eyebrows, saggy eyelids and a tired aging look.

Brow lifting is a cosmetic surgical procedure that lifts the eye brows upwards to correct the effect of gravity and aging on the droopy eyebrows. It is usually done either endoscopically or in combination with an upper eyelid lift surgery.

The main purpose of the procedure is to elevate the eyebrows to a higher position as aesthetically indicated.

Cat eyes (Fox eyes / Bella eyes / Almond eyes) is an optional subcategory of brow lift procedure that is available for you upon your choice, however endoscopical brow lift doesn’t necessarily give you the cat eyes.

The results are long lasting and evident unlike the PDO threads that only make a small temporary unnoticed lifting.

What are the differences between Cat eyes & brow lift?

Brow lift doesn’t necessarily give you the cat eyes unless you choose to do it; it is rather a separate option that you have to choose.

Brow lift and Cat eyes both are made either endoscopically or through an upper eyelid surgery, in a similar manner to each other with the only difference is the direction of lifting to the eyebrows.

In regular brow lift the eyebrows are lifted upwards to their youthful position or even slightly higher creating a refreshed youthful look, while in cat eyes the brows are lifted upwards and outwards to create that model foxy look of the eyes.

Who is a good candidate for eyebrow lift?

There are many indications for a brow lift that include:

  • People who suffer from droopy, sagging eyebrows.
  • Upper eyelid hooding that might affect vision.
  • Forehead furrows, creases, wrinkles and folds that result from continuous voluntary brow elevation.
  • As a complementary procedure to face lift.
  • As a complementary procedure to an upper eyelid lift (upper blepharoplasty).
  • As a cosmetic procedure for improved facial appearance.
  • To create cat eyes (Foxy eyes) appearance

Surgical brow lift Vs. threads brow lift:

Threads brow lift is a temporary procedure that last only few months and has a very poor end result to notice, on the other hand surgical brow lift procedure done either endoscopically or through an upper eyelid surgery is a permanent solution that lasts for decades with an absolutely marvelous visible results that you can enjoy for many years to come.

What are the different techniques for eyebrow lift?

There are so many different techniques for eyebrow lifting; the endoscopic approach is becoming the most popular one in recent years because of its hidden incision lines and the satisfactory natural results combined with the advantage of a great longevity period.

Eyebrow lift also could be combined with an upper eyelid lift (upper blepharoplasty) in the same procedure; the eyebrows in this case are being lifted from the same incision of the upper eyelids surgery with no any additional incisions required.

The eyebrow lift different techniques are all summarized below including the surgical and non surgical ones:

The non surgical brow lift techniques include:

  • Bottox brow lift.
  • Threads brow lift.

The surgical brow lift techniques include:

  • Endoscopic brow lift (minimally invasive temporal brow lifting).
  • Brow lift through an upper blepharoplasty incision.
  • Direct wedge of forehead skin excision (leaves a scar above the eyebrows).
  • The classic full coronal forehead lift (leaves a big scar in front of the hairline).

The non surgical techniques: are temporary solutions that only last for a few months.

The Bottox is generally a good choice in this category that gives satisfactory results but is only viable for a few months and most patients get tired from the continuous repetition of injections.

Threads on the other hand usually give a poor result when compared to bottox or surgery.

Endoscopic eyebrow lift: in the recent years has become the most popular choice for surgical brow lifting; it has the advantage of having the scars hidden inside the scalp hair together with a long lasting and very satisfactory results.

Brow lift combined with an upper eyelid lift (upper Blepharoplasty): is suitable for many cases that are indicated for both surgeries by doing both procedures from the same eyelid incision that always heals well without any visible scars.

The classic full coronal forehead lift: involves an incision across the top of the forehead from ear to ear. While providing a fairly reliable brow lift, this technique comes with the problem of having a visible long scar across the forehead together with loss of sensation to the scalp area making this operation less favorable than the endoscopic technique or that through an upper blepharoplasty incision.

Recovery from an eyebrow lift:

Patients are instructed to use ice in the following 4 days to limit the forehead swelling.

As with most facial rejuvenation plastic surgeries; swelling, bruising, and tenderness are all expected to occur after brow lifting.

Most patients can go back to work in a matter of 1 week after endoscopic brow lift or 10 days if combined with an upper blepharoplasty.

Results should be visible as soon as the 1st week when the swelling start to disappear from the forehead.
