What is a Brazilian buttocks lift (BBL)?

Like any other natural fat transfer procedure, BBL procedure is mainly concerned about augmenting the size of the buttocks with a natural body component rather than using silicone implants.

 

BBL procedure is done by natural fat harvesting from other parts of the body that have excess fat by liposuction, and then injecting the fat in to the buttocks to augment its size and reshape its appearance. 

 

BBL is a similar procedure to breast augmentation by natural fat transfer, but in this case it is the buttocks. 

 

Natural fat transfer (fat grafting) is a very common procedure that is done to many different areas of the body that require fat volume enhancement including the breasts, buttocks, hips, calves, lower legs, face, back of the hands, labia majora, and literally any part of the body.

 

BBL could be combined with any other body area that requires natural fat transfer in the same procedure with decreased additional costs.

 

BBL vs. silicone implant augmentation:

What is done in BBL?

Local liposuction from donor areas is the 1st step of the procedure done by tumescent technique to collect enough amount of fat. Liposuction incisions are all smaller than 0.5 cm in diameter.

Transferred fat volume decreases by about 30% over the next 8 weeks as not all of the transferred fat cells survive in their new environment. 

Drains (small plastic tubes) are not required in BBL. 

The sutures used are usually of the self absorbable type that don’t require to be removed, however if the non absorbable type is used they have to be removed by the 14th day after surgery. 

Early walking after the procedure is highly encouraged.

Most patients need about 2 weeks off work, 4 weeks before going to the Gym., and 6 weeks for full recovery.

End results are expected after at least 4 months but however you can see much of your new shape as soon as the swelling starts to disappear and the volume starts to stabilize about 6 weeks after the procedure.
